Emergency crews were on the scene of a house fire Friday night in the 2900 block of Selah Loop Road. The fire was reported around 6:10 p.m., said Selah Fire Department Chief Gary Hanna. Hanna said the fire appeared to have started outside the home and that it caused significant damage to the kitchen and dining room of the two-story home before fire crews knocked it down. Firefighters were seen venting the roof with a chain saw to keep the fire from spreading. Firefighters from the Yakima Training Center and the Gleed Fire Department responded to the fire in a mutual-aid capacity.
