A smoke alarm is being credited with saving a man and his dog from a burning home in Poulsbo Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 4 p.m. at the home along Lincoln and 11th, according to the Kitsap Sun. The man had been sleeping inside when the smoke alarm went off, allowing him to escape with his dog, Poulsbo fire officials said.
Firefighters arrived to find flames burning both floors of the home, and it's since been declared a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
