Firefighters were busy trying to douse a blaze at a three-story townhome under construction in Wallingford.
Neighbors called in the fire in the 4200 block of Winslow Place N. just after 5 a.m.
Carter Costello was just coming down off Queen Anne Hill when he spotted the massive flames:
"We looked over the edge of the bridge and saw this huge, billowing red cloud -- the fire was huge, it was insane," he said. Austin Krohn lives across the street from the fire and said he was awakened by a bright orange light in his bedroom.
"Immediately looked out the window and saw the entire building in flames," he said. "It was pretty intense."
He said the fire was close enough that some of the embers drifted across the street and set small fires on his lawn.
