An unknown suspect broke into a Randle Fire Department substation within the last month, damaging a door, its frame and a fire department truck parked outside.
According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, damage was estimated at around $250. Although a door was broken and someone may have gained entry, Fire District 14 Chief Jeff Jaques said there didn’t appear to be anything missing in the building.
Located in the 2200 block of Cispus Road, Jaques said there hadn’t been fire department personnel posted there for the past few weeks, making it difficult to pinpoint the time the crime happened. It was reported just past noon Monday, when a citizen in the area noted something seemed amiss about the open, damaged door.
