A 38-year-old Wausau man was arrested Monday in an arson fire at the Cabaret Bar, Wausau police said. Tony Patterson Jr. turned himself in without incident, a lieutenant said. Patterson is one of two men that police identified last week as “persons of interest” in the fire. The other was a 32-year-old Wausau man. Firefighters were called to the bar about 5 a.m. Thursday and the roof was on fire. Firefighters reported smelling gas when they arrived. A witness told police he saw a person dressed in dark clothing with a black hood over his head walking to the bar just before the fire was discovered and he saw a white Ford Crown Victoria with a loud exhaust leave the area about 5 a.m. Officers found the Crown Victoria parked in a driveway a few blocks away. The owners of the bar reported Patterson was kicked out of the bar after a "confrontation" with other customers about three weeks earlier and he was upset about it, police said. The bar suffered minimal damage in the fire.
