An Eau Claire man was killed in what deputies are calling an industrial accident at Huffcut Concrete in Lake Hallie. The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department says Otto Kolpien, 47, was an employee at the plant. The accident happened just before four Monday afternoon. Deputies say Kolpien got pinned underneath a heavy piece of industrial equipment. The cause of the accident is under investigation. The sheriff's department, Chippewa Fire District, and OSHA are involved in the investigation. WEAU reached out to Huffcut for comment. They declined, but stated that the investigation was ongoing. According to their website, Huffcut Concrete makes and customizes modular buildings, restrooms, vault toilets, utility buildings, and recreational products as well as secure storage, agricultural products, septic tanks, and more.
