Washburn County Emergency Management coordinated an Emergency Communications regional training and exercise during the week of October 24-28 at the Spooner Fire Hall. The training focused on the development of technician-level communications in the region to better support the various public safety communication needs at an emergency response during significant incidents such as flooding and other natural or man-made disasters. The training was provided as a result of funding by Wisconsin Emergency Management and the Office of Emergency Communications, a division of Homeland Security. Emergency Operations Center staff and public safety professionals from around the region attended the 40-hour training. It was the second round of training that has been hosted in this region in the past 14 months.
