As Alissa Routheaux went on a walk with the seven young kids she was watching Monday morning, the group passed a few dozen fire engines and other safety vehicles that were parked up and down a street in her neighborhood. This wasn’t a typical early November day in the small city. Sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures were accompanied by a big turnout in the downtown district. More than 200 firefighters, police and other public-safety personnel from about 50 agencies in Wisconsin came dressed in uniform to honor John Brocker, a longtime volunteer fireman from Oneida who died in the line of duty last week.
