Kenosha’s new fire chief said he’s excited to lead one of the state’s largest fire departments. Earlier this month, the Police and Fire Commission chose Charles Leipzig Jr. to succeed John Thomsen, who retired as chief in July. The commission said Leipzig’s long-term department vision, humility and inclusiveness of personnel stood out to the commissioners. The commission will take action to formally appoint Leipzig at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.
