VIDEO: The Osseo Fire Department has a $2.5 million advisory referendum on the Nov. 8 ballot to build a new fire station. Firefighters take mere minutes to respond to emergencies in the area, but the Osseo Fire Department has spent years preparing for the referendum with a committee taking almost five years to put it together. Osseo Fire Chief Nels Gunderson said the city has already agreed to sell land to the fire department near Stockman's Farm Supply. "This truck barely fits out the door here," Gunderson said while showing the lack of space at the current station. "We have to fold the mirror in to get in and out of the building each time. We have to pull out, fold the mirror out, and then go to the call, which adds to our response time. If you come racing in the door for a fire, you may have to open the large garage door to get to your locker, which is no big deal in the summertime, but when it is 20 degrees below, and before you gear up, you have to open the door, that is not an efficient operation."
