Former Green Bay Metro Fire Department Lt. Michael Miller will be honored during the annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Oct. 9. Miller, 45, was on duty at Station 3 on Shawano Avenue on June 20, 2015, when his fellow firefighters found him unresponsive. Known as "Peanut," Miller had been with the fire department for 18 years and was remembered by firefighters and friends for his quick wit and warm smile. He died of natural causes. Miller is one of four Wisconsin firefighters who died in 2015 and are being honored at the upcoming service. The others are: Leslie W. Fryman, 58, of the Rosendale Volunteer Fire Department. Fryman became unresponsive while responding to a mutual-aid structure fire and later died on Jan. 21, 2015.
