While Monona City Council members appeared to be in favor of a proposal to shift the dispatching of local firefighters from Monona to Dane County, they were lacking a formal resolution to adopt when they met Sept. 19. Instead, one will be drawn up and presented to them when the council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Earlier this month, a study group forwarded its recommendation to the council that Monona firefighters join the city’s EMS personnel in being dispatched by the county. Once approved, it is expected the change would go into effect Jan. 1, 2017. Fire Chief Scott Sullivan, others on his staff and City Administrator April Little would work with county officials to ensure a smooth transition.
