Spending almost 16 hours swimming, biking and running in a competition may not sound appealing to some people. But for two local volunteers, the event meant more than just completing another Ironman triathlon.
Pete McCormick and Amber Hahn, both members of Poynette-Dekorra EMS, recently completed the 2016 Ironman Wisconsin in Madison. The race was held on a historic date – Sept. 11 – a day 15 years ago that impacted the country in many ways. McCormick and Hahn, who both finished with a time of 15 hours, 56 minutes and 24 seconds, remembered when they signed up to do this year’s race, only a short time after McCormick had completed his first Ironman.
