One person was rescued from a downtown elevator by Madison firefighters after the elevator malfunctioned, according to a release from the Madison Fire Department. Firefighters were called at 8:20 a.m. Friday to the YWCA on East Mifflin Street when an elevator became stuck on the 6th floor. A firefighter went up to the 7th floor and opened the lobby doors there. He was able to access the elevator car and open up the top hatch. The occupant was brought out through the hatch and to safety without incident.
