Fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused an early- morning house fire Sunday at 2408 Carmel Ave. According to a press release issued by the Racine Fire Department, neighbors heard a noise, then saw an orange glow at the home at about 12:40 a.m. when the call for help was made. The blaze coming from the first-floor bedroom was quickly put out by responding firefighters but not before $40,000 in damage was done to the home.
