La Crosse’s Police and Fire Commission selected two external candidates as finalists for the city’s next fire chief. St. Paul (Minn.) Deputy Fire Chief Leeland Gilliam, who also serves as the director of Fire and Rescue Training at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, and Brian Lee, who is a public safety promotional and professional assessment consultant, are vying for the position. Lee is a retired deputy fire chief from the Washington D.C. Fire and EMS Department. A total of 14 applied for the spot vacated by retiring Chief Gregg Cleveland.
