VIDEO: After two people have turned down the job to become Altoona's first, full-time fire chief, a decision is made to extend the offer to a third candidate. In February, the job was offered to Chad Peterson. He turned it down citing family obligations. On April 5th, the commission decided to offer the job to James Cleveland. However, he also turned down the position. During a meeting Tuesday, April 12th, the Altoona Police and Fire Commission decided to extend an offer to the other candidate who interviewed for the fire chief position last week, Mark Renderman.
