It was only about a year ago when then-mayoral candidate Jeannie Hefty, a member of the all-volunteer Burlington Rescue Squad, made the need to improve the squad's relationship with the Burlington Fire Department a major focus of her campaign. Today, with Hefty as mayor and Fire Chief Al Babe, who formerly ran an all-volunteer unit in the Town of Raymond, running the Fire Department, the relationship between the two organizations has improved substantially.
