Beaver Dam Police and Fire Commission unanimously approved purchase of a new rescue boat for the Beaver Dam Fire Department Tuesday night. Fire Chief Alan Mannel is recommending a 24-foot aluminum boat made by Kann Manufacturing with a low bid of $61,000. Mannel said in an email that the boat will have a semi-v bottom, trailer and a Mercury outboard motor. The department plans to add sonar to the boat. The department currently owns a 1974 Thomson 19-foot fiberglass boat that was donated in 1974. Mannel previously said that the boat is usually repaired every spring.
