One person was hurt in a laboratory at the UW-Madison Animal Science building Monday afternoon after a bottle of chemicals broke on the floor. The incident happened at about 1:40 p.m. on the 10th floor of the building on campus at 1675 Observatory Drive, the Madison Fire Department said. The victim reported eye irritation after a bottle containing chloroform and methanol was dropped on the floor. A firefighter crew wearing protective gear went to the lab, finding a crystalline residue left behind by the evaporated chemicals.
