VIDEO: A new fire station is open in Kaukauna. The 29,000 square-foot facility held its grand opening Wednesday. It replaces the former station which was only 8,000 square feet. The new facility, which can comfortably house 35 firefighters, took a year to complete. The new station, located on Second Street, has more doors which shortens response time for crews. During tours of the facility, one firefighter said it's all about serving the community. "This is a product for the citizens of the city of Kaukauna. We happen to be lucky enough to work out of here, to respond out of here and be able to help our citizens. But this building is for the citizens of the city of Kaukauna and they should be very proud," said assistant fire chief, Donald Grindheim.
