VIDEO: The Western Lakes Fire District responded to two fires on Christmas Day. According to the department, no one was hurt in either fire. Authorities were called to the first fire at 7:37 a.m. near E. Wisconsin Ave and N. Lapham St in Oconomowoc at a McDonald’s restaurant. The fire was reported to be in two fat fryers. Two people were inside the building at the time but got out unhurt. The fire department says cold temperatures and low wind chills contributed to the difficulty of dealing with the fire. The cause is unknown. There is no damage estimate or word on when the restaurant will reopen.
