A Portage woman who has been in jail since December, accused of attempted arson, will have to wait another 30 days before her attorney can address what she said are underlying mental health issues. Linda Fuller, 58, is charged with felony attempted arson of a building, criminal damage to property and two counts of bail jumping following an incident on the evening of Dec. 6 at the Historic apartment building in downtown Portage. At Fuller’s preliminary hearing Thursday, Assistant District Attorney Crystal Long called Portage Police Detective Robert Bagnall to testify. Bagnall said that, as could be seen in security video footage, Fuller walked into the laundry room of the apartment building, lit something that Bagnall thought might be a dryer sheet or a sock, dropped it in the trash and walked away. Over the next few minutes flames could be seen rising into view and smoke filled the room.
