Sun Prairie city alders failed to vote on a compromise this week to take the first step in remodeling the Westside Community Service Building (WCSB) for 24/7 fire service on the west side.
In two weeks, alders will decide when the project will be added to the Capital Improvement Plan and be placed into the city budget.
District 4 Alder and City Council President Al Guyant earlier this month questioned the high cost of fire department staffing and pushed for a delay in creating a 24/7 westside fire station.
During the July 11 Committee of the Whole meeting, Guyant offered a compromise to alders: redesigning the in 2018, with construction in 2019, and a final decision on firefighter staffing for the building in 2020.
