Workers installing fiber in Sun Prairie hit a gas main Wednesday afternoon, causing an evacuation near downtown, according to the Sun Prairie Fire Department. The incident happened in the 100 block of North Street around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. According to the fire department, when fire trucks arrived, there was a smell of natural gas in the area, and firefighters closed down North Street.
