In an effort to increase local outreach in the Stateline Area to get job seekers interested in the fire service, the Beloit Fire Department is currently revamping its recruitment policies and youth outreach efforts. The department was asked by the Beloit Police and Fire Commission to review its policies for outreach in April. Beloit Fire Chief Brad Liggett will present plans for policy changes to the Beloit City Council in late August. There are currently no vacancies on the 61-member full-time staff, with one expected in August and September, followed by two full-timers retiring in December, Liggett said.
