An early-morning building fire heavily damaged the Kenosha Education Association building and shut down several streets in the adjacent neighborhood. Firefighters were called to the building, at 5610 55th St., at around 3:30 a.m. Friday morning. Most of the flames had been extinguished by 6:00 a.m. The Kenosha Education Association is home of the local teacher's union, which represents teachers and other school staff in the Kenosha Unified School District. At least 30 firefighters were called to fight the fire and took shifts as the fire climbed up the building's walls and into the attic.
