Madison City Council members are proposing a new ordinance to reimburse the legal fees accumulated by people who win claims against employees or officials before the Police and Fire Commission. “The council finds it is in the public interest and satisfies a public purpose to reimburse fees and costs of private citizens who successfully bring complaints before the Police and Fire Commission against city employees or officials,” the proposed ordinance states. Ald. Shiva Bidar, District 5, is the lead sponsor of the ordinance that has seven other sponsoring alders.
