The Fitchburg Fire Department has begun moving into its new station on Marketplace Drive, but it isn’t expected to be operating out of there for another few weeks. Fire chief Joe Pulvermacher told the Star in an email he hopes to have the transition finished by July 1 “at the latest,” and that the construction of the station was on schedule to be finished other than minor items by June 8. “After substantial completion, we should be able to start moving items from our existing station to the new station,” Pulvermacher wrote.
