Beaver Dam Police and Fire Commission gave Fire Chief Alan Mannel permission to move ahead with preliminary planning for a second fire station and staffing. “I think things will change about 100 times,” Mannel said. In order to possibly cover a second fire station, Mannel wants to hire nine more firefighters. However, Chairperson Jeff Kohmen said he doesn’t want Mannel to spend any money this early planning process. Kohmen said the commission needs to know estimated expenditures before Mannel can make his next move. There is no money budgeted for the potential second fire station this year. “I just hope it doesnt take 25 years like [the police department building] took,” Casey Carney said.
