Ron Blomberg narrowly avoided the devastation Tuesday that claimed the life of his neighbor at Prairie Lake Estates mobile home park. Blomberg, 27, left his trailer home about 10 minutes before a tornado ripped through the grounds, destroying two-thirds of the park’s homes, at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. “It was surreal,” Blomberg said Wednesday as he looked at where his home once stood between Chetek and Cameron in the Barron County town of Prairie Lake. The storm, which preliminary National Weather Service estimates indicate had top wind speeds of 120 to 130 mph and was classified as at least an EF2 tornado, destroyed dozens of homes, killed a 45-year-old man and injured at least 28.
