The need for a larger fire station was fairly obvious when Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department members met this week with town officials. There was barely room in the back of the station to set up a folding table for the meeting. "The building itself is structurally sound, but no longer fits our needs," Fire Chief Lou Denko said. "We don't have enough meeting room space," Denko said. "We have to pull the equipment out every time we want to have a meeting."
