Five people were injured Friday in a single-vehicle crash on Madison's east side, officials said. The Madison Fire Department said crews responded to a report of a sports sedan that had crashed at about 5:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Meadowlark Drive. According to the report, a sports sedan was headed south on Meadowlark at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while trying to round a curve at the bottom of a hill. After leaving the road, the back of the vehicle struck a tree. The car spun to a stop. Three of the occupants were able to get out of the car before paramedics and firefighters arrived, the fire department said.
