VIDEO: Local elementary school children participated in some fun activities, but with a serious message. The Campbell Fire Department visited 1st and 3rd graders at Summit Elementary School to teach them about the importance of fire safety. This year's message: 2 ways out. It means being aware of all the exits in any building, enabling people to better find them and get out quickly. A message fire officials hope the children will carry with them. "The they bring the information back to their homes, that there needs to be two ways out in an emergency," Jeff Nylander, a veteran fire fighter said. "As 3rd graders, many of them have younger siblings, so we impress upon them that now that they have the training they can use the skills to help their younger brothers and sisters."
