The Beaver Dam Administrative Committee met Monday night to begin deliberations on a proposed 2018 budget with a net tax levy of 6.4 percent increase ($10.5 million) amounting to more than $630,600 over the adopted 2017 budget. Beaver Dam Fire Chief Alan Mannel said these were some tough cuts. “Everyone is fighting for the same piece of the pie,” he said after the meeting. There was some pushback on whether or not to cut a $12,000 north side station study. City Council Member Ken Anderson proposed moving the station’s study to the 2019 budget cycle. Mannel disagreed, saying that it would be “kicking the can further down the road.”
