The closest first responder to a cardiac arrest victim might not know about the emergency, if the firefighter is off duty. Thanks to a pilot program coming to Madison, that won’t be the case anymore. The PulsePoint Verified Responder app will start up on Tuesday for off-duty Madison Fire Department firefighters and paramedics, signaling the responders of a cardiac arrest within a quarter-mile of their location. The new program will kick off Tuesday with the distribution of automated external defibrillators to first responders at Station No. 12, 400 South Point Road.
