A baby goat died in a Tuesday afternoon barn fire in the town of Medina, authorities said. Forty-nine other goats were rescued from the blaze and nobody was injured in the fire, said Dane County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Elise Schaffer. Dane County Sheriff's deputies and firefighters from six area departments responded to the barn fire at 1394 W. Medina Road at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, she said. Investigators think a heat lamp caused the blaze, Schaffer said. The barn was destroyed, with losses estimated to be between $10,000 and $15,000, she said.
