Over the past year, four Burlington-area fire departments have been working hard to raise funds and get the necessary approval for a new training facility. Now that all the T’s are crossed and I’s dotted, the departments are planning on breaking ground sometime in May or June. Fire departments from the City of Burlington, Town of Burlington, Rochester and Wheatland met in February 2017 to discuss pooling resources together to build a training facility. The Lyons Fire Department was also in the initial discussions, but its Town Board voted unanimously in February 2018 not to join the effort.
