A mother and her two children are safe following a house fire in Oconto Sunday morning. At 12:02 a.m., the Oconto Fire and Rescue department was sent to 109 Huron Avenue in Oconto for a report of a house fire. When they arrived, they found heavy flames coming from the front porch and windows that had been blown out. The mother and her two children had also evacuated prior to their arrival. While fire crews were preparing to attack the fire, they heard a loud explosion come from the front porch. Firefighters quickly took care of the fire from the front porch, followed by a fire from a bedroom. Once the overall fire was under control, crews spent several hours extinguishing hot spots.
