Fire Chief Tim Huffman may be retiring after 38 years, but he plans to partake in as many fire department events as possible, including the pancake breakfast. After all, he will be among friends. "They (the firefighters) are basically like family to me. We are all very close," he said. "I've been in Turtle township my whole life." Everyone is invited to Huffman's retirement party to be held from 2-5 p.m. April 28 at the Turtle Community Center. Huffman started with Turtle in 1980 and quickly fell in love with the volunteer job. Always chatty, Huffman said he loved helping people. He often passed out his phone number, which was heavily used. "I'll talk to anyone," he said.
