A special committee has been meeting for several months to both align and modernize the fire safety building codes for the towns of Holland and Onalaska and village of Holmen. The Holmen Area Fire District Association’s Building/Fire Code Working Group appears to be close to finishing the project and making recommendations on the codes. Holmen Area Fire Department Chief Paul Menches had encouraged the Holmen Area Fire District Association Board to form the committee so three the municipalities’ fire/building code ordinances would be consistent. The communities need to meet the minimum of certain national and international as well as all Wisconsin statutes that pertain to building construction and fire codes.
