VIDEO: It's been a long winter in western Wisconsin, and although there are still traces of snowfall on the ground, it didn't stop a grass fire from breaking out Sunday evening at Lake Wissota State Park. “This is definitely ground-fire season, now that everything is finally starting to dry out,” explains Dave Hladilek, a property supervisor, for the Lake Wissota, Brunet Island team. “Even after everything looks green, and you've got a lot of good green grass going, it's still dry underneath, and a small fire can blow up in a hurry.” According to the Anson Fire Department, the call came in just before 5 p.m. Sunday. Multiple fire departments and the Wisconsin DNR responded.
