Firefighters say a white residue that has emerged in a neighborhood after a fire is harmless. The Oshkosh Fire Department says it was called to a fire at A.P. Nonweiler, 3221 Hwy. A, just after 6 p.m. Monday. A.P. Nonweiler makes industrial coatings and paints. The building's sprinkler system contained the fire, and firefighters were able to put it out quickly. Everyone got out safely. Firefighters say water from the sprinklers got into some titanium dioxide that was being stored near where the fire was. Firefighters say the substance will lead to white residues on the ground and nearby waterways.
