A neighbor who saw smoke coming from the roof of a nearby home and called 911 is credited with minimizing the severity of a fire in the 900 block of Rosemere Circle on Sunday morning. Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department responded to the 911 call around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. A press release from the department said the home was not occupied when firefighters arrived on scene and smoke was visible from the ridge line of the home. The fire was found in the basement and was quickly extinguished, the release added. The first floor of the home sustained smoke damage, but the department said a total amount in damages had not yet been determined.
