The Delton Fire Department will host its annual Block Party at the Lake Delton Fire and EMS Complex, located at 45 Miller Drive, on Sept. 8 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The free family-friendly event is a fundraiser that goes towards the cost of the fire department’s special operations trailer, a necessary tool to help the fire department carry out its duties properly.
The trailer is equipped with $14,000 worth of special equipment, such as: firefighter rehabilitation equipment, like cooling chairs and fans; tools for confined-space fires, Hazmat, and rope rescue.
“These are not done on a daily basis, but it’s important to be able to provide these services when the time comes,” said Darren Jorgenson, fire chief of Delton Fire Department.
Although the event is free, a $5 donation is suggested to go towards the cost of maintaining the special operations trailer.
