While the Mosinee Fire Department gets new boots, another one is filing them.
The Stevens Point Fire Department kicked off its annual "Fill the Boot" campaign Wednesday.
The fundraising effort raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, helping patients and families suffering from muscle-debilitating diseases.
Firefighters will be collecting donations at the intersection of Main and Division Streets in Stevens Point on September 6th and 7th.
As people drive by, they can drop their donation into the firefighter's boots.
"All of us as firefighter/paramedics have a calling to help others in need, said Tom Wastart, a firefighter/paramedic. "Normally it's on a day-to-day basis of running from one emergency to the next. It's also nice that we can take that on an off-duty aspect and give back a little bit to our community as a whole."
