For more than one month, the community has been fundraising and honoring the three girl scouts and a mom that died after a tragic hit and run. But now the Chippewa valley is thanking a group often forgotten during tragedy, the first responders. It’s a moment to thank those that responded on November 3, to a call of a hit and run in Lake Halle.
“We expect them to be there 24/7 and we don’t think twice about it,” said Angie Walker the director at the Chippewa Falls Senior Center.
On Saturday, a tree lighting and thank you ceremony was held at the Chippewa Falls Senior Center. There was a row of trees in the back to honor all emergency services, a group of trees in the middle represent the military and the tree up front is a tribute to Girl Scout troop 3055.
“It takes a very special and unique person to be able to do that and thank goodness that they are those types of people in our lives,” Walker said.
