Emergency medical response in the Door County Town of Gardner is undergoing a makeover in the wake of a report from the town's attorney that revealed the town's responders group was not licensed and not insured. A four-page letter by attorney Randy Nesbitt dated Nov. 15 said the entity known as the Gardner Emergency Medical Responders Inc. “is not licensed to operate as an EMS provider in the State of Wisconsin.” Nesbitt said the group was incorporated in 2009 but had never obtained a license from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
