A Christmas Day fire destroyed an apartment in North Fond du Lac. At 4:33, North Fond du Lac firefighters arrived at the building located at 396 Harrison Street. Crews started to attack the fire that started in one of the units. At 4:49 a.m., they called for mutual aid from other departments. At 6:20 a.m., the fire was ruled under control. Three people inside the apartment escaped without injury. All other occupants in the building were able to get to safety without injury. The North Fond du Lac Fire Department has declared the apartment unit a loss. North Fond du Lac firefighters remind residents about the importance of having working smoke detectors. They also urge people to sleep with their doors closed at night.
