One dead in house fire in Waushara County

A Christmas afternoon house fire ended in one death in the town of Rose, just west of Wild Rose. Waushara County dispatch received a call of a house fire at about noon on Tuesday at 17th Drive in Rose, which firefighters discovered to be fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. Extinguishing the fire required additional backup from other nearby fire departments, according to a news release. Firefighters found one person dead in the house. The Wild Rose Fire Department received assistance from the Saxeville, Poy Sippi, Plainfield, Wautoma and Hancock fire departments. The Wild Rose Fire Department continues to investigate the fire. The victim's name will be released at a later time.
